National Poetry Month 2025: Day 2

Today’s word from the Verse of Ages Poetry Prompts is bob. I took liberty with the word and turned it into a proper noun rather than a verb, which I think the prompt was meant to be. Merriam-Webster has seven definitions of the word bob. I did use the word as a verb, too.

Collection of Bobs

As my bobber bobs on the lake
I think of my dad, Bob.

At one time he fished,
On Keuka Lake
When I was small.

There’s been other Bobs, too.

My friend’s dad is a Bob.
He’s a nice elderly man,
Like my dad, Bob.

Bobs seem to have similar traits.

There’s social work Bob, a friend
Of my husband’s,
He goes to Haiti to help.

Bobs seem to collect.

License plates, coins,
Books, and old cars are
Things that Bob collects.

A collection of Bob is precious.
