Woman, Overboard! National Poetry Month, Day 17

Today’s prompt word from the Verse of Ages Poetry Prompts for April 2025 is overboard. This is the list from which my poetry prompt has been obtained each day. I am proud of being halfway through the month and being able to write a poem a day this year, so far.

Here are the poems from the last week, April 11- 16:

How are you doing with your poetry month projects? Let me know in the comments.

Currently, I am on a self-imposed writer’s retreat at my oldest son’s in Colorado. We spent several days in Fort Collins, where he lives, exploring the landscape there and hiking two of the beautiful open spaces that have been carefully reserved for public use in Larimer County – Devil’s Backbone and Horsetooth Reservoir.

All photographs are taken by me, Carol Labuzzetta, and all rights are reserved. Do Not Copy!

Today, we are on day one of a mini-side trip to Salido, and tomorrow we go to Great Sand Dunes National Park. The drive here today was gorgeous!

Today is also Poetry Friday. The host this week is the very talented Jone Rush MacCulloch. Thank you for hosting, Jone!

You can find me on Medium.com, where I write essays on most days. This month has been a challenge with attempting to write both a poem and an essay each day. Let’s just say, I haven’t gotten it done. Plus, most of my articles on Medium are sent out by online publications. So, if they are not ready to send it out, it doesn’t go.

But you might enjoy my Medium articles. Stop by if you can. I’ve listed Friend links for three recent ones.

  1. I loved seeing your Justice poem in the Zine and here. Well done there, and with all of these! Thank you for sharing your poetry bounty.

  2. Carol, cascade filled my heart with sadness-such a touching poem. I knew that another poem would follow and it did. I am sorry that your father passed on. I am in grief mode as well. It is difficult to sleep at night under the command of night dreams. Thank you for sharing your wealth of poems.
