Poetry Month Winds Down Landing on Peace

This is the last week of National Poetry Month. I have thoroughly enjoyed writing daily on my WordPress blog. The prompts gave me something to focus on, so I am thankful for that. Maybe I’ll continue using some prompts.

Today’s prompt from the Verse of Ages Poetry Prompts for April 2025 is peace.

I am naturally a peace-loving person. I abhor conflict, and luckily, I don’t have a lot of it in my life. My husband and I rarely fight. I remove myself from environments that are full of conflict. It’s just how I am.

But I do wish that globally, we would get along better. When I signed on to be an international tutor for ESL students abroad, I had to explain my worldview to the Turkish gentleman who was talking to me.

Essentially, I explained that I felt we were all humans and we all deserved the chance to learn. I’ve long been an advocate for student learning, and that shows in my CV and LinkedIn pages. Anyone who knows me well knows that about me. Apparently, it was the right thing to say, as I was hired on as a volunteer tutor. My worldview was the same as theirs.

Truly, I don’t understand what is happening in the world today. I wish we could agree to disagree and accept our commonalities as humans. My poem today attempts to speak of this.

We need peace to survive.

  1. Your questions are apt for our world. I too want peace and do not understand how it’s so hard to find. Peace is my wish for you and all.
