Today, I think I am moving toward ending my writing time on Medium. I see signs, which I’ll discuss in a future post, that the platform is seriously struggling. At a minimum, I am struggling on it and have been since January.
As a small example, I wrote a post today that I tried to publish to my own page, not through a publication, and could not upload it. This is definitely weird.
I will post it here by the end of the day. I want it to stand alone with its own title instead of burying it in this post.
Furthermore, anyone who has signed up on Medium.com to get my articles via email since late April 2025, except one person, I cannot send to outside the site – Medium has hidden their email from me. I have
Now, I’ve never used my email contact list, but now that I’m considering it, I think this is sneaky that all of a sudden emails are being hidden. Roughly 41/59 email subscribers I can see – the rest are hidden, and my most recent subscribers. I dislike it when organizations are not transparent. I never read anything about the platform doing this, and it seems it was done so that we “cannot take people” with us if and when we leave.
Thus, I’m going to post here, to my WordPress blog more, and just leave my articles up on Medium for an occasional post to those publications that value my contributions, AND I see a return on my investment of thought, writing, and time. Right now, that’s not happening.
As of today, I have 1,871 followers on Medium and have 864 subscribers on WordPress, where I’ve written over 2,000 posts since 2017. I’ve published 944 on Medium since 2022.
Humbly, I’m asking you to follow my blog here, on WordPress. It won’t cost you anything, and you’ll be able to read the entire article each time I publish. I’ll work on reorganizing my pages here and plan to sell my photographic note cards as well as possibly some curriculum, and my poetry books. The best part is that you receive my article right in your email inbox for FREE.
In essence, I’m tired of putting in a lot of effort for a dwindling return on Medium. It’s time to do something different.
