Today, March 15th, 2020, I am celebrating the posting of my 1,000th blog!
There are several celebratory activities planned, the first of which is a photo giveaway! This is particularly apropos due to the fact it is a Sunday and Sundays have been dedicated to posting photos only, with the exception of the photo’s caption. It is a very popular day on my blog for views. And, the weekly posting of photos allows me to combine two of my passions – writing and photography. So, to explain the giveaway, I will depart for this Sunday from only posting the photos. I need to provide some explanation of how you can win!
To participate in this giveaway you must 1) select one of my photos in this post as your favorite and tell me why you like it in the comment section. I will number the photos so you can identify which photograph you are commenting on. 2) You must be willing to provide a mailing address to which the photograph will be sent. 3) Photo Size varies with the photo selected and marked with the size you will receive if chosen as the winner. If a watermark appears on the photo featured, it will not appear on the photo you receive.
A random winner will be chosen on March 20th by using a random number generator based on the order of comments. Notification will be on this blog by the end of the day on March 21st. If you are the winner, you must provide a mailing address within 48 hours. If you do not want to post your address publically, you can provide an email which I will use to contact you.
If you are the chosen winner, you can pick any of the photos posted, not just the one you comment on! You can let me know at the time you are notified. Unless noted all photos come in at least an 8 x 10-inch size, with some being available at 12 x 12 or 11 x 14. Inquire after winning as to which sizes are available for the photo you choose.
Have fun! I am thrilled to have reached the milestone of 1,000 blog posts at The Apples in My Orchard! Thank you for your readership and support!

What an amazing milestone! Congratulations Thank you for giving us a gift this day of he views in these absolutely beautiful photos. Many of the places pictured here I have not personally been. As we stick close to home, we are unsure when we will visit beautiful sights further from home again. Keep sharing your personal, stories with us. We are better for it.

Congratulations on your milestone. It is a big one. Your photos are spectacular. What type of camera do you use?
I am particularly fond of number 6 – I feel as if my nose is pressed up against a flower.

Thank you! And, that’s great that the photos inspired you to want to travel! Our first trip to the Southwest was last month and we’ll definitely go back – very welcoming and interesting as well!

Happy blog milestone! I’m going to attach a comment to #3 because my partner and I got to visit White Sands National Park last November on an unsettled, stormy day. The sky’s color resembled the land that day, which was a cool and disorienting experience, but that’s why I appreciated the view from your picture: the contrast of brilliant blue above gypsum terrain and that tree connecting the two.

Thank you so much! Yes, we luckily got to go on a beautiful day! I hope you plan to go again! As you know, it is fairly remote but we felt it was more than worth it. We’d like to visit at another time of year! Thanks for voting and your comments! They made me appreciate what we saw even more.

Prairie Smoke, #6 is my favorite for several reasons. First of all, it’s my favorite color!! I also love the fact that the photo allows you to focus on the uniqueness of the Prairie Smoke plant. Finally, I like the fact that it attracts butterflies, which totally reminds me of you! Thank you for all the good work you are doing to make our world a better place!!

Your photos are beautiful! Great idea to let the photos speak for themselves. I associated a favorite memory to photo #1 from a family vacation as a child. I hope to return someday with my husband.

#6 Prairie Smoke. The green in the background makes the pink in the foreground pop. . . . Pink is my signature color!! Althouth, I love #12 the Seven bridges Road (2004) because it makes me think of the song by the Eagles. A special memory.
