My first chapbook of poetry is entitled Life’s Inspiration and Reflection in a Few Words, Northern Loon Press, 2022.
In 2024, I edited an anthology of Ekphrastic Poetry for students in the middle grades, 5-9. My role with this second book was one of many hats.
- I put out the call to submit poems and matching photographs, accepting 24 authors from four countries and three continents.
- Gathered submissions for 3 months
- Organized the layout
- Attended to the graphics of the book. (Sizing of photos, placement on page, placement of the poem, etc.)
- Wrote the front and back matter of the book
- Contracted a professional editor to review the book & poems once laid out
- Handled all contact with authors
- Used KDP to lay out the book and acquire proof copies
- Ordered the printing of the final hard copies
- Ordered each author a complimentary copy and mailed them to each of the 24 authors (excluding me)
- Listed on Amazon for sale
This was a project that took place from August 1st, 2023 – April 6th, 2024. To summarize, my roles were those of author, editor, and publisher (under the name Northern Loon Press).
