Six-Six Word Stories

We got our COVID vaccines yesterday!

The process was smooth and efficient!

Proof that word of mouth works!

We have great friends to thank!

How can we give something back?

My husband will volunteer his time.

I am not a fan of the six word story or the six word memoire for any writing challenge and rarely fall back on using one but sometimes the less said the better! To ensure, my story was not too brief, I wrote six -six word stories! They can be read as one story or six separate stories, if you choose!

This will free up my time for a Poetry Friday post – which I have been missing during the SOLSC. And, there in lies the crux of why people write six word stories – to save time.

Today is day 25/31 of the Slice of Life Story Challenge. TwoWritingTeachers host this writing challenge in March and on Tuesday during the rest of the year. Thank you for creating a welcoming space for writers.

Giving back is so important, and I need to find a way to do this now that I’m retired. Thank you for including it in your 6 of 6. It’s a reminder to us all and explains the why of the world. Have fun with poetry Friday.

I was a dedicated school system volunteer and master gardener volunteer for over 15 years. Now, I’d actually like to be paid for my knowledge and expertise but it’s hard to find reimbursement for community/environmental educators. Because I really love to teach, I keep doing it as a volunteer. My husband still has a healthcare provider license intact, which you need to be able to administer vaccines. I will find another way to give back. I agree with you – very important!

I’m glad this was a good fall-back for you today. I always struggle with the 6 word memoir…not enough words!!

Thanks! Me Too! I struggle with them as being too brief, not really a story, and more. But, I did end up writing a fairly lengthy poem for Poetry Friday, so the six word story was a good fall back this time!

Carol, I’ve never fallen into the “Brevity is the soul of wit” camp, either. I need to, sometimes, but I’m usually not successful. I’m glad you and your husband got your shots yesterday–that’s fantastic!

Yes! We were very grateful to receive some “overflow” vaccines, as we are not in one of the special groups.

Congrats on the vaccines!!! I love six word memoirs; I like the idea of wanting to know more, but there isn’t much else that needs to be said. Your six six words layer together wonderfully. Thank you for sharing!

(I hope to join poetry Friday someday – I commented on another slicer’s post that it seems daunting to me, but I would like to challenge myself!)

Thanks, Britt! I saw that you wrote at least one during the challenge. They still don’t feel right to me but definitely served the purpose this week, as I was able to get a nice poem off for Poetry Friday! I hope you do consider joining that group! It is every bit as supportive (or more) than the SOL group.

Amazing how we are all excited about vaccines! Even my 17 year old, like never before. A new dawn breaking. Congrats!

It is amazing! I spent a lot of my time as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (back in the day) giving vaccines to infants and children. It is so very important! Glad your teen thinks so too!
