At the cabin I write the old fashioned way

with a pad and pencil, I will stay.

At the cabin,

My computer has failed me,

loosing its charge, you see, but the words still come as fast as can be.

At the cabin,

My inspiration is plain in the nature all around,

foggy mornings, calm waters, and calling loons abound.

At the cabin,

My mind is free to wander

as I watch the woods and fisherman over yonder.

At the cabin,

The days are short, spent out in the sun

as nighttime arrives we gather around the fire for more fun.

At the cabin, I don’t have to wonder what I’ll do with my time

after I’m done writing, I realize my life is rather sublime.

At the cabin, life moves at a leisurely pack filling your summer days with joy. Thanks for letting me slip into your world for a short time.

I love the repeating phrase, ‘at the cabin”. Paper and pencil or pen is still the way to go.

Wow! “foggy mornings, calm waters, and calling loons abound.” This does sound like a sublime life. I love the photo of that perfectly calm water.

I love this reflection on being at the cabin. My favorite line was “At the cabin, I don’t have to wonder what I’ll do with my time.” Isn’t that just the best?! It made me long for a cabin visit, too.

Lucky you to have a cabin retreat! That photo is so evocative and I love how you grounded your poem in place with that refrain “at the cabin.” Enjoy each moment of your cabin days.

We will! Thank you so much! I felt the refrain worked for this piece. I’m glad you though so too!
